context of the Western Channel Observatory<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>PML acquire a new buoyed platform capable of continuing and enhancing existing oceanographic time series by adding additional functionality including an in-water profiling instrument package and the ability to \u201cplug-in and play\u201d a wide range of innovative marine technologies.<\/p>\n<p>A major component of the MBTC project is to enhance and develop \u00ab&#160;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsoundplymouth.co.uk\/Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smart Sound Plymouth<\/a>&#160;\u00bb, an in-sea trials environment for new and innovative technologies.<\/p>\n<p>This project boasts the year round deployment of two buoy systems at scientifically significant, long term monitoring and marine biodiversity reference sites (L4 and E1).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Station L4 is a coastal station approximately 6 nautical miles south of Plymouth<\/li>\n<li>Station E1 is located in an open shelf environment
